I really really like the light (and am completely skint). I'm fully expecting a "get a new light fitting with an earth" comment, but is there anything else I can do. With the toilet light uneffected because it's running of a separate circuit?ĭoes this make sense to anyone? And if it does, is there anyway of earthing the kitchen light and getting the curcuit complete again? My limited knowledge of electrics (and believe me, it is limited) is making me think the other lights need an earth and the fact I cut the kitchen one, it's fucked that particular circuit. The working light is in a downstairs toilet but my front room and hall way lights aren't. The light works fine but it seems to have killed some other ground floor lights (but not all). So I cut back the earth, tapped it and connected the live and netural into the wago style connector (it's an Ikea light fyi). I googled it and it's all good apparently, nonconductive material etcetc. I have fitted a new light in my kitchen today which didn't have an earth.
